Session description
Heat consumption represents roughly a 50% of total energy consumption in Europe, and industrial heat is about one half of this total. Most of the industrial heat is produced today with fossil fuels, representing a 20% of all European energy related emissions. There are different technologies to decarbonize the heat, and electric solutions like the heat pumps, e-boilers and Thermal Storage (TES) can play a significant role in the industrial heat decarbonization in a competitive way.
This session will explain the possibilities of using renewable electricity to decarbonize the industry and the main opportunities and challenges in the near term.
