Conference pass not required Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) is a promising, low-carbon and low-material solution for various applications and markets which allows tapping into the enormous potential of high-altitude wind. This session will provide an overview of the technology and current state of the sector. After a short general introduction to AWE and its concepts, this session will focus on selected recent developments and commercial projects of the AWE sector. This will include on-going work on policies and regulation including airspace regulation, social acceptance of AWE within the JustWind4All project, results of the assessment of potential AWE sites in Germany, latest findings of Life-Cycle-Analyses, as well as the planned AWE Centre of Excellence on the Spanish island of La Gomera.
