Abstract
Issues associated with commercial fishing pose a risk to offshore wind farm consent in many jurisdictions. Early consideration of fisheries issues and the incorporation of lessons learned by the industry to date are critical to reduce risks to projects and increase acceptance amongst the fishing industry and the general public. We look at the main interactions between offshore wind and fishing from our experience as fisheries consultants for numerous offshore wind farm projects in the UK and internationally, highlighting specific challenges and opportunities for co-existence between the two industries, with a particular focus on the constraints associated with floating technology.
