We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!
PO327: Chilling challenges: cutting-edge rime ice testing in the wind energy sector
Bram Cloet, Senior Engineer Energy Transition, Sirris
Abstract
This abstract introduces a novel rime ice tester designed for assessing the performance of laser-textured and coated surfaces in delaying or preventing the formation of rime ice, with a particular focus on its relevance to the wind energy sector. Rime ice, a hazardous phenomenon in various industries, poses significant challenges in aviation, energy generation, and transportation. In our study, we present an ongoing comprehensive investigation into the efficacy of laser-textured and coated surfaces in mitigating rime ice formation, particularly in the context of wind turbine blade applications. Our work addresses a critical need for innovative ice prevention methods, aiming to enhance safety and operational efficiency in ice-prone environments, specifically benefiting the wind energy sector.
