Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO166: Forecast the impact of the climatic change on temperature derating losses

Arthur Cachia, Senior Wind Energy Yield Analyst, EDF Renouvelables

Abstract

Power curves are guaranteed up to a certain ambient temperature ranging from 20 to 30°. Beyond this temperature, some turbines suppliers can offer intelligent solutions that enable more stable energy production at really high temperature. This extension of operating range impacts the power output significantly, hence the importance of having a good prediction on the long term temperature at the site. However, the impact due to climate change might change the production output and it has to be taken into consideration. Because the next 30 years will be warmer than the last 20 years, the derating losses must consider the climatic change figures. Thanks to IPCC data, EDFr has assessed a model to predict the temperature of wind farm all along their time of exploitation. EDFr has compared the derating losses estimated with and without IPCC figures. In critical area, with IPCC figures, losses could be three times higher than using the temperature of the last 20 years.
