Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO098: Commercial scale floating wind: INTOG leading the way

Frida Knudsen, Technical Manager, Green Volt and Cenos, Vårgrønn

Abstract

Two of the most advanced large-scale floating offshore wind projects in Europe, Green Volt (up to 560MW) and Cenos (up to 1.4 GW), is pushing the boundaries in the industry for scale and complexity by combining electrification of oil and gas platforms with providing power to the UK grid. The projects could deliver power by 2027 and 2028 respectively. Having been rewarded exclusivity under Scotland's Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round in 2023, developers Vårgrønn and Flotation Energy are now advancing the projects. Due to their early-mover position, Green Volt and Cenos provide valuable lessons for other floating wind projects in Europe across key areas, including: * Floating wind projects now offer substantial opportunities for suppliers * Governments and developers must adapt to complexity * Start early with consenting and sustainability to create early-mover projects
