We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO097: «Realistic» floating wind costs

Rachel Spiegel, Senior Consultant, Renewables Northern Europe, DNV

Abstract

Norway recently held the Utsira Nord licensing round for floating wind, where three 500MW lease areas with a desired Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2030 are to be rewarded on qualitative criteria, otherwise called a "beauty contest". One criteria was cost - where the most cost-competitive projects would be rewarded most points. However, the government also specified that "realistic" costs will be awarded points, while "unrealistic" costs would be weighed negatively. Which leads to the question: how do you predict "realistic" floating wind costs in 2030? In this presentation, we will go through the major uncertainty factors and cost drivers for floating wind, and how "realism" can be applied to future floating projects.
