Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO094: Floating offshore substations

Maria Jørgensen, Sales Manager, Semco Maritime

Floating offshore substations (FOSS) have become a key topic of interest over the years since fixed bottom substations and wind turbines have water depth limitations in depths above approximately 60 meters. However, 80% of the world's offshore wind resources are located in water deeper than 60 meters creating a need for alternative foundations such as floaters. At the moment, no floating offshore substations have been utilized besides from one built for a Japanese wind farm which has been decommissioned. There is therefore a need in the market to develop a floating offshore substation which can be used to harvest energy offshore in areas which hasn't been possible before. However, floating substations presents risks that has to be addressed to increase the maturity of the design. Semco Maritime has in collaboration with their partners Inocean and ISC been working on a conceptual design and will through this presentation highlight best practices and risks they have encountered. This presentation will fit into the Floating Offshore Wind track with focus on lessons from projects and market development.
