Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in the academic community. We look forward to seeing you there!

PO087: Floating wind O&M strategy optimisation through weather downtime analysis

Simon Dujardin, O&M Floating Wind Engineer, Skyborn Renewables

Abstract

The offshore wind market has experienced rapid growth and development in recent years as a key player in the renewable energy sector. Installations are transitioning from shallower to deeper water depths, with the wide-scale adoption of floating wind foundations, and the expansion into new markets where supply chains have yet to be developed. Site accessibility plays an important part of the development of Offshore Wind Farms, especially for the O&M phase. Bad weather conditions are the main reason behind decrease of this accessibility and delays for maritime operations. Light (preventive and corrective) and heavy (major component replacement) maintenance operations need looking at for the development of the floating wind industry. This is done here through weather downtime analyses using James Fisher Mermaid software at an agnostic floating wind site off Northern Brittany, France. The end goal is the definition of an optimised maintenance plan depending on cost effectiveness and turbine availability.
