Biography

Juan Carlos Bedoya is the Head of the Regulatory Office and Business Affairs of the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Colombia. Mr. Bedoya received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from VirginiaTech (the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), in Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2020; and his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Technological University of Pereira, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. Moreover, he has been a Fulbright Fellow since 2016 and holds a MSc in economic sciences. Mr. Bedoya has served as director of the Energy Exchange in XM-Colombia, senior researcher at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Washington State, and Expert Commissioner at the Regulatory Commission for Energy and Gas (CREG).
