Biography

David has worked for over 35 years at the interface between sectoral policies and biodiversity policy. He started his career in 1987 in the public sector in Scotland, working on water policy and protected rivers, lakes and other wetlands. Since 2007, he has worked in the voluntary sector with SEO/BirdLife (BirdLife's national Partner in Spain), to promote the conservation of biodiversity through policies from local to global level in the water, agriculture, forestry, climate and energy sectors. Based at SEO/BirdLife's head office in Madrid, he is currently seconded to BirdLife Europe and Central Asia Region, where he works to build the capacity of BirdLife to engage constructively with the renewable energy transition and wider climate policy.
