Biography

John Medley has been making measurements and analysing data for 30 years. A Chartered Engineer with a Masters Degree in Mathematical Modelling, John started his career analysing the uncertainty in precision electrical measurements, winning the IEE Measurement Prize in 1995. He spent a few years improving signal processing algorithms for radar before turning his attention to the use of lidar in the wind industry in 2011. John now holds the position of Senior Data Scientist at ZX Lidars and is their representative on the IEC's 61400-50-3 Project Team, tasked with producing a standard for wind speed measurements using nacelle-mounted lidars.
