Athanasios Barlas

Senior Researcher, DTU

Biography

Athanasios (Thanasis) Barlas has been active in wind turbine research and innovation for the past 17 years. He studied mechanical engineering at University of Thessaly in Greece and acquired his PhD at Delft University of Technology. He worked as a post-doc researcher at Risø in Denmark, as a project manager at Siemens Windpower in Denmark, and has been a researcher and then a senior researcher at DTU Wind and Energy Systems until today. His research focuses on active aerodynamic control, aerodynamics and loads testing and validation, aero-hydro-servo-elastic modelling, design loads, controller design and blade design.
