Senior Project Engineer, ArcelorMittal Global R&D Gent
Biography
Dr. Krista Van den Bergh is senior project engineer in OCAS, the R&D centre of ArcelorMittal Global R&D Gent, located in Belgium. She holds a PhD in analytical chemistry/electrochemistry and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of corrosion research. During her PhD she worked on the corrosion mechanisms of steel in reinforced concrete. After her PhD, she joined OCAS in the materials characterization department where she was responsible for different state-of-the-art analytical characterization techniques, electrochemistry and corrosion research. Afterwards she became senior project engineer in the department surfaces of OCAS, where she is still active. Her main research domains are corrosion studies on metallic coatings, corrosion testing, and the development of corrosion protection of steel substrates. In the energy market, she is involved in projects on the reduction of the life-cycle costs of offshore structures by developing new materials with improved corrosion protection.Posters
