Scientific Director, France Energies Marines
Biography
Trained as a civil engineer Jean-François Filipot pursued his studies with a PhD on ocean wave forecasting (with the WAVEWATCHIII model) at the French Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (Shom) and Ifremer. After a postdoc at the University of Hawaii, where he developed a spectral wave model for fringing reefs environments, he joined Shom as head of research on coastal wave modeling and observations. Since 2013, Jean-François Filipot has been working at France Energies Marines where he is now the Scientific and Technical Director of this research Institute focused on offshore wind. Since then, he drives the development of the R&D programs of the Institute. In parallel, he has been pursuing research on extreme waves in the context on ORE design. In this context, he recently obtained a habilitation to direct research (sort of 2nd PhD) on the interactions between breaking waves and offshore wind turbines.Posters
