Biography

Stéphane SCHMITT has been working for METEORAGE, the French operator of an European lightning detection network, for more than 20 years. In charge of product development, he is an expert alongside the international standardisation committees (IEC) and appointed by Météo-France to the World Meteorological Organization. Specialist in Thunderstorm Warning Systems, he is a contributor to international standards such as IEC 62793, 62858 or 62305 series. He participates to works and publishes studies in the field of lightning risk assessment and prevention, and all actions to promote lightning safety. In 2019, he has received an award for his contribution to improving human safety.
