Scam warning
Please be aware that WindEurope events are continuously targeted by companies such as FairExpo, International Fairs Directory, Expo Guide and others trying to take advantage of the event’s size and success. These companies are known to regularly send out misleading emails to our exhibitors and delegates, asking them to update their data, implying to be affiliated with WindEurope or are offering access to participant data and various marketing services.
These are ‘phishing’ offers from companies that target participants of trade fairs and conferences of all sectors worldwide, obtaining contact data from publicly accessible web sources. Being fully GDPR compliant, WindEurope does not make any data available to third parties and we do not sell any data obtained through our registration system to brokering companies.
Despite WindEurope taking action to stop these types of practices, they do continue. We ask you to please remain vigilant when you are contacted by these companies and others that may act in a similar way. The scam often includes the following signs in their paperwork and email correspondence that you should be aware of:
- Improper use of WindEurope logos and branding with small differences from the authentic branding; and/or
- Improper use of the WindEurope event title(s), locations and dates; and/or
- An attachment in the email with improper use of WindEurope logos, branding and event information that offers you a data listing or advertising space on the website of the companies mentioned above.
We strongly recommend not to respond to any communications you may receive from the above listed companies. They are not authorised or contracted to do so by WindEurope.
If you have been approached by a company regarding your participation at any WindEurope event and you are unsure whether they are involved or contracted by WindEurope, please contact the WindEurope Events & Sales team [[email protected]].
If you discover that you have signed and returned such a form in error, please obtain advice from your legal counsel as soon as possible prior to making any payment.
