Session description
The problem is not ambition. The wind energy is under a huge expansion in the EU: from 190 GW today to 1300 GW in 2050 (and already 450 GW in 2030). Just when the wind energy industry should be expanding, the market for new turbines is less than half of what it should be.
Accelerating deployment by simplifying permitting procedures and auction design would unlock the higher volumes needed and have a direct impact on the health of the European wind supply chain, making it a strong player on the ongoing energy crisis and ready to deliver a Green Deal ‘made in Europe’.
