Biography
David leads the renewable energy team for Macquarie Asset Management’s (MAM) Real Assets business in Europe. In this role, he leads activities around origination, the execution of new transactions and the ongoing management of renewable energy sector investments for a range of funds and mandates. This includes leading investment activities for MAM’s dedicated global, renewable energy fund. Since joining MAM in 2005, David has played a key role in all of the businesses’ activity in the renewable energy sector in Europe. This has included the acquisition of the renewables portfolio owned by Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 1, Värmevärden and Renvico (all of which have now been realised). More recently, David has led the acquisitions of Race Bank and was a key member of the Macquarie Group team which acquired the Green Investment Bank from the UK Government.
David brings to his role extensive senior management experience across the renewable energy and utilities sectors. David spent 12 years working in the energy industry, starting his career with National Grid (the UK’s electricity transmission provider). He also worked at TXU Europe, performing a wide range of commercial roles within the UK and Continental European energy markets including operations, major contract negotiations, re-structuring and M&A activity.
David graduated with a degree in Pure Mathematics from Warwick University, UK. He received a Master of Science degree in Operational Research at Lancaster University, UK, and a Master of Business Administration at Cranfield University, UK
