Biography

Beatriz Yordi is a Director in DG Climate Action leading the team responsible for the EU Emissions Trading System, a pillar of the Fit for 55 European Commission package as well as international cooperation on carbon markets and the promotion of clean mobility, including CO2 standards for road transport, policies for the decarbonisation of all modes of transport. A pioneer in renewable energy policies, she joined the European Commission in 1994, working on energy policy, Eco-innovation, Green businesses and the LIFE programme in DG Energy, DG Environment and EASME. Her career began at the Research Centre CIEMAT and this was followed by the role as young Chief Engineer in Endesa-RWE and Notary’s joint venture designing and constructing the first European solar PV plant. She specialised in Fundamental Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
