Session description

The EU has formally committed to accelerate towards a fully decarbonised economy and to become the first climate neutral continent by 2050. The electricity market design will need to deliver the right signals that can support the investments trajectory towards a net-zero deployment. It will also need to hedge price uncertainty providing a more sustainable outlook for consumers and keeping the EU energy system costs at affordable levels. This session will recommend the necessary market mechanisms and design updates to achieve these objectives.
