Session description
After the agreement in June on a 32% renewable energy target for 2030, the European Parliament and national governments are accelerating negotiations on the new Electricity Market Design Rules. This session will bring together senior representatives of the Transmission System Operators, power generators, regulators and civil society actively involved in this debate. We’ll be looking at Europe’s approach to security of supply and the role of capacity mechanisms, and at how Europe can move beyond national system operation and ensure electricity markets are fit for renewables.
Learning objectives
- Learn about the key changes expected in Europe’s post-2020 Electricity Market Design;
- Get insight on the impact of the new rules for the deployment of wind energy in Europe in the next decade;
- Understand the main issues at stake in the ongoing political negotiations
