Biography
Andrew Mitchell was appointed Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe in July 2018. Andrew is responsible for the British Government’s work to promote trade and investment with 32 countries around Europe
Andrew has 25 years’ experience in leading organisations in the public and private sector, most recently as Director in a British-based creative and communications agency with international clients among Olympic bid cities and Major Games hosts.
Andrew has previously held senior positions in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Andrew was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Sweden from 2007-2011 prior to taking up a position as FCO Director for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. From 2012 to 2015 Andrew was FCO Prosperity Director, in which role Andrew was responsible for the Foreign Office’s international economic work. He was also the Deputy Head of Mission in Kathmandu and Second Secretary at the British Embassy in Bonn.
Andrew is a keen cricketer and runner and enjoys reading, travel and music. He is married with three children.
