Biography

Dr Wolfgang Schlez has been working in the wind industry for over 25 years. He is founder and director of the wind energy consultancy ProPlanEn. He holds a master’s degree in physics (Dipl. Phys.) from Oldenburg University, Germany and received a PhD from Loughborough University, United Kingdom for his research into the voltage fluctuations caused by groups of wind turbines. He has worked for 16 years at Garrad Hassan where he was responsible for the WindFarmer software. He led Garrad Hassan's wake model develoment and verification for offshore wind farms in the ENDOW and UPWIND projects. His research is focused is on wind resource assessment, wind farm design and wind farm wake modelling.
