Biography

Stephan Vogt (*1987) is a research associate at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) in Kassel. He is working in the R&D area “Energy Economy and Grid Operation” on forecasts for energy systems. He studied Renewable Energy Technology (B.Eng, FH Nordhausen) and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (M.Sc., University of Kassel). In 2014, he completed his master's thesis "Development of a numerical method for the approximation of wind farm wind speeds based on numerical weather forecast grids produced by the German Weather Service (DWD)", in cooperation with Fraunhofer IWES. Since 2014, as part of his job, he works as a research assistant with the physical and statistical modeling of wind energy and photovoltaics. He uses spatio-temporal weather forecasts and also deals with the German wind and PV plant installation database.
