Sarah Barber

Biography

Sarah Barber has been working in the wind energy industry for more than 10 years. She currently leads the wind energy research programme at the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil in Switzerland. Additionally, she runs her own wind energy consultancy and is a lecturer in wind energy at the University of Kassel (Germany). She studied mechanical engineering at Cambridge University (UK) with a year at MIT (USA), followed by a PhD in aerodynamics at the University of Sheffield (UK). She then completed a postdoc in experimental wind energy at ETH Zurich (Switzerland), followed by a role at a Swiss utility company carrying out wind resource assessments and then as Chief Technology Officer at a start-up developing a vertical axis wind turbine. She was then Group Manager and lecturer in wind energy at Fraunhofer IWES in Bremerhaven (Germany), setting up and managing a team for wind turbine load measurements.
