Biography
Robert Johnston Brown completed in 1989 his degree in electrical engineering at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand before working for Transpower NZ, the transmission system operator of New Zealand, as a protection engineer for 7 years. In 1999 he completed his M.Sc. at Flensburg University in Germany and continued on his engineering career at DNV GL in Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog, Germany. There he spent 7 years carrying out acoustic measurements on wind turbines before switching to power quality measurements in 2007 as a senior engineer. He has carried out measurements of electrical characteristics and protection testing on wind turbine and other renewables prototypes in Europe, China, India and USA and is a member of the FGW working group “Grid protection”.
