Biography
Matthias Zelinger, born in 1968, is a graduate mechanical engineer, and has been managing director of the Power Systems trade association and VDMA (German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) spokesman on energy issues since March 2015. He has also been deputy MD of FFV, the Research Association for Combustion Engines, since October 2015.
He has been a member of the board of Wind Europe (formerly European Wind Energy Association) since June 2016.
Previously at VDMA, since 2007, he was responsible for thermal turbines and power stations. Until mid-2014 he was also secretary-general of the European industry association EUTurbines.
When he first joined VDMA in 2002, Mr Zelinger initially headed the process gas compressor and compressed air technology divisions.
Prior to joining the organisation he held various executive positions in the special-purpose engineering sector.
