TNO
Biography
After obtaining a Masters degree in Physics from the University of Oxford in 2007, Clym joined the energy company E.ON. There he progressed from researching wave and tidal energy to offshore wind, becoming manager of a renewable energy yield assessment team, before finally creating and running a Data Science team serving clients across the energy sector. One of the largest projects he worked on was developing a Cost of Energy-based optimiser for designing wind farm layouts, which demonstrated large positive benefits on wind farm viability.
In 2016 he joined ECN (now part of TNO), and manages the offshore wind farm installation and operations & maintenance research programmes. He has also been using his background in data science to develop several innovative new products for the wind sector, including a daily maintenance planning optimisation tool.
