Session description
Wind energy is playing an increasingly vital role in the efforts to decarbonise European and International Energy Systems. This session presents new approaches to facilitate integration of higher amounts of wind energy into power grids through better asset utilisation and voltage control in transmission networks.
Learning objectives
- Understand the key role that generation assets connected at distribution voltage level can play in the integration of large onshore and offshore wind farms.
- Learn innovative approaches to optimise the transfer capacity of transmission lines.
- Familiarise with new developments to nowcast power output from wind generation assets
