Session description
Repowering Europe’s ageing wind farms can triple energy output while reducing turbine numbers, making smarter use of the continent’s best wind sites. But progress remains slow in some key markets due to inconsistent permitting, restrictive design rules, and grid bottlenecks. This session explores how policies can unlock repowering, strengthen community benefits, and support Europe’s 2030 climate and energy security goals—turning a major untapped opportunity into real system wide impact.
