Addressing innovation bottlenecks in floating wind: opportunities for the Spanish value chain

When: Thursday, 23 April 2026, 14:30 - 15:15
Where: "Powering the Future" stage - Hall 9

Session description

Floating wind will need to tackle technological challenges in all fields to significantly reduce its cost in commercial deployment. The contribution of new innovations from the whole value chain will be critical to the success of the sector. The Spanish value chain can play a key role in this process. Helping in this crucial mission, a new European initiative called I3FLOAT is working in a new floating wind innovation roadmap that is identifying and prioritizing the main challenges that need to be addressed in the short and medium term. A fund of 3 million euros will afterwards be distributed in two open calls among the SMEs that propose the best solutions to the issues identified in the roadmap.
