Biography
Marcos Suárez is Wind Energy Director at BASQUENERGY Cluster, an association that integrates over 150 organizations working in the wind energy sector in the Basque Country (Spain). He holds a MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Basque Country and an MBA in 2007 from IESE and Haas School of Business (UC Berkeley). Marcos has over 15 years of international experience in consulting at companies such as KPMG, SANTANDER or MINSAIT, both in the strategic area and in M&A processes or activities related to R&D. Recently, he has led several projects in the floating wind area, from supporting the configuration of demonstration projects to setting up an initiative to develop technology for O&M of floating windfarms. He is currently the coordinator of I3FLOAT, a large-scale European project that aims to further strengthen Europe’s position in floating wind energy and to stimulate collaboration between companies and research institutions across different regions.
