Session description
Permitting remains a stumbling block for the expansion of wind energy in many parts of Europe. The revised Renewable Energy Directive introduced some good new rules. Where they've been implemented, like in Germany, this has already made a huge difference. But other countries are not moving fast enough in the implementation. More attention needs to be given to spatial planning, digitalisation, the creation of one-stop shops and the introduction of overriding public interest. This session will look at how we can accelerate the process and unlock the countless projects that are still slowed down.
