PO235: Holistic added value strategies to optimize wind turbine gearbox operation and maintenance using online oil condition monitoring data

Abstract

The appearance of online monitoring technologies, especially based on lubricant, together with the deployment of IoT techniques have led to a completely new dataset that all agents (OEMs, gearbox manufacturers and end-users) can use to improve the decision-making process for their asset operation during its complete lifetime, to maximise the availability and lifetime of the component while reducing the maintenance costs. In this work, a holistic added value strategy set is defined, ranging from a gearbox design perspective to the critical maintenance operations up-tower. In each of the strategies, the importance of using online monitoring technology is shown and the added value for all agents is described with some examples.
