PO104: Continuous improvement of offshore operations and maintenance through experience and value chain optimization
Pavlo Malyshenko, Head of Offshore Operations, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy
Abstract
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) is a leading OEM and O&M partner in Offshore wind globally with 30 years of experience and 16+ GW installed fleet, of which 12+ GW are under service. We continuously develop and innovate offshore service to improve safety and effectiveness while lowering the costs of wind energy and transforming the industry into a subsidy free environment. This can be only achieved by holistic view and optimization of the wider value chain, that is beyond traditional Service and Maintenance of wind turbines, and by also including other elements like Logistics, Balance of Plant, Site Operations Management and Control, Marine Coordination, Facilities and Harbor Management. This holistic approach also supports reduction of the down time as well the improvement of another dimension – life time of the windfarm – which all subsequently translate into the reduction of the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE). SGRE has started the journey of expanding and optimizing the scope of the Offshore projects 5 years ago which has been very successful, hence we would like to share our experience in this regard. The development of this direction will continue while also horizons will be broadened further which will give foundation for evolvement of Green Hydrogen. During the presentation, we will describe our path from a classical approach of the equipment manufacturer and service provider for this equipment to adjusting the direction towards an asset integration and optimization which is instrumental to meet the market demands for the affordable green energy
