PO102: The Offshore Wind Energy MBA – development of current and future managers

Wolfgang Lukas, Professor for Management and Human Resources, Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences

Abstract

The offshore wind energy sector is characterised by increasing industrialisation. While technological challenges and technological innovation continue to play a prominent role, at the same time offshore wind energy production is a mass business with standardised units and the need to systematically manage industrial processes, continuously reduce costs, exploit synergy effects and at the same time track the continuous and sometimes significant change of the industry as a large organisation. These management challenges are not only at the national level, which is still decisive for issues such as the awarding of concessions, and the political framework conditions, but also internationally. Therefore, management competence is increasingly in demand in order to successfully construct and operate wind farms under these framework conditions. The concept of the offshore wind energy MBA addresses precisely this need and systematically integrates the industry into the qualification programme. Both the selection of topics, contents and qualification objectives for the individual training modules and the didactic approach are specifically geared to professionals. The entire organisational setting corresponds to the qualification needs of the industry and the learning style and learning needs of the participants.
