Abstract

As globalization has led to an increase in global collaboration and lower prices of goods and commodities, there is a need to ensure a universal approach across the wind industry supply chain and an ability to compete economically with the lowest-cost source of electricity. To overcome these challenges of globalization, a new quality assurance framework based on commonly accepted and available Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles and guidelines has been developed. This framework, called APQP4Wind, is made to substitute company-specific procedures and set aligned methods and procedures for the entire supply chain nationally and internationally. The standards made available in APQ4Wind have been developed by GE Renewable Energy, Goldwind, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Vestas Wind Systems, GRI Renewable Industries, LM Wind Power, KK Wind Solutions, and ZF Wind Power to enable the global wind industry to produce a product quality plan that can support the development of a product or service, improve collaboration with customers, and lower the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE).
