PO013: Designing new energy electrical power systems with offshore wind integration

Abstract

As part of the energy transition towards net zero by 2050, we have several climate response projects under development where fossil fuels are replaced by renewable energy sources. Offshore wind, hydropower and solar power are providing electricity to new and existing production facilities, such as offshore oil and gas, onshore gas processing and hydrogen production. One first step in these project developments, are to assure operability and robustness in the design of the new energy mix electrical power system. Topics of concern are electrical power system stability, power assurance, control and protection, smart grids and process power management, integrated facilities overall energy management and plant-wide control and optimisation.
