Biography

Volker Berkhout, MSc is a research associate at the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy and Energy Efficiency (IEE) in Kassel since 2012. He is working in the Energy Informatics department on operation and maintenance processes in wind energy. Since 2017 he has been working in research projects on digitalisation use cases in the wind sector and the use of the concept of data spaces. In 2020 he led the Fraunhofer project EnDaSpace in which a demonstrator for communication between a wind turbine and an electrolyzer for the production of green hydrogen was implemented. Currently he is involved in the planning of projects to develop and expand the future Energy Data Space. He received a Diploma on business engineering and industrial management from FH NORDAKAMIE close to Hamburg and did a Master in Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency at the University of Kassel, Germany.
