Session description
This exciting session looks at wakes in terms of measurements and modelling, at different scales and using different techniques. From using measurement from LiDAR to satellite derived winds from SAR. From modelling with RANS-CFD, Large Eddy Simulations, and up to mesoscale. The contexts range from the scale of whole wind farm clusters, down to novel twin-rotor platforms.
Learning objectives
- Discover different modelling methodologies to investigate wakes from wind turbine scale to wind farm cluster scale
- Gain insights into the performance and limitations of the models compared to measurements, as well as their applications
- Discover how measurements can be used to assess wakes behaviour of wakes
- Learn about the next steps in wake modelling, next generation wind turbines
