Session description
Clear waste classification is a cornerstone of effective circular economy policies—especially for complex materials such as composite waste from wind turbine blades or end-of-life products containing permanent magnets. Ambiguity around waste codes for these materials hinders recycling, traceability, and regulatory alignment, slowing the development of circular markets and sustainable material flows. This session will explore how dedicated and clarified waste codes for composites and permanent magnets can unlock smarter recycling pathways, support regulatory compliance, and enhance material traceability. By establishing clear classification standards, we empower regulators, recyclers, and industry stakeholders to collaborate more effectively, enabling sustainable circularity across sectors and improving Europe’s access to critical secondary materials.
