Biography

Wouter Vanhoudt, Director Europe at HINICIO, is a shareholder of Hinicio. He is a commercial engineer from the University of Antwerp, Belgium with a Master in financial management from Vlerick Management School. Being based in Brussels, he coordinated the multi-stakeholder CertifHy project, achieving wide spread consensus within industry, policy makers and civil society on a definition of green hydrogen and a roadmap of a Guarantee of Origin (GO) scheme to create a market for green hydrogen. He is an active in the European regulatory envionment as member of Hydrogen Europe, the Sectoral Forum of Energy Management (SFEM) Work Group (WG) Hydrogen, CEN TC6 WG2 (responsible for developing a hydrogen GO standard at European level) and FCH JU’s Regulation Codes & Standards WG. Before joining Hinicio, Wouter worked in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as the general manager of Schreder Gulf LLC, an outdoor LED lighting specialist with 2600 employees worldwide, where he introduced new (LED) technology into the market, in close collaboration with local governments: capacity building to increase social awareness and acceptance, development of codes and standards for products, lighting design and system control, as well as structuring innovative financing instruments like ESCO (including regulatory changes). In 2008 with the support of the Prince Albert Fund, he contributed to launching a Belgian Start-up, Container Quick-Lock, ensuring quality control at the Chinese supply base in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and introducing the product into the Chinese market. Between 2004 and 2008 Wouter was a business unit manager at Altran Group in Belgium. Wouter’s has a solid experience of international business development, deep commercial and financial acumen and people management skills. He speaks fluent English, Dutch and French and has knowledge of Spanish and German.
