Session description

Fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind are highly complementary. Floating foundations concepts allow to operate wind farms in deep sites or improper areas for fixed-bottom. Therefore a major research and development effort is underway to develop and commercialize novel floating wind turbine concepts, after the launch of several pilot farms, especially in France, Portugal and Scotland. This sessions presents some of the recent advantages in this field, with a focus on the remaining challenges and opportunities. The exciting developments in France will be particularly highlighted, in cooperation with the French Wind Energy association - France Energie Eolienne (FEE)

Realize the advances made in computer simulation of innovative floating wind turbine concepts
