Strategic Compensation: Faster and Better
When: Wednesday 22 April, 09:00-10:00
Where: Startup Pavilion, Hall 9
Open to: All registered participants
Compensation measures address residual impacts of developments once the avoidance and mitigation steps of the mitigation hierarchy have been applied. A strategic approach to compensation involves addressing the predicted impacts of long-term offshore wind expansion plans on seabirds at sea-basin level, accelerating offshore wind permitting, making it more transparent and trusted, while delivering measurable gains for nature.
This session unpacks how strategic compensation can replace the fragmented project-by-project compensation approach with coordinated, science-based measures that deliver for seabirds and address cumulative impacts.
Using a North Sea/Celtic Seas case study, we outline the technical building blocks, delivery pillars, and supporting evidence.
