Compensation measures address residual impacts of developments following application of the earlier steps of the mitigation hierarchy. A strategic approach to compensation involves addressing the predicted impacts from long-term offshore wind expansion plans rather than project-by-project, enabling the delivery of ecologically meaningful measures for nature at scale, and facilitating faster permitting of new offshore wind projects.

With a focus on seabirds, this event explores the components necessary for a strategic approach to compensation to deliver for nature and net zero, and the role of national and sea-basin level coordination and frameworks in putting it into operation.
