Session description
The upcoming Circular Economy Act represents a key policy shift for the wind energy sector, arriving in the same year as our industry’s voluntary landfill ban commitment enters into force. This session will unpack the potential implications for the wind energy sector: from the urgent need for dedicated waste codes to enable pooling and cross border shipment, to the critical role of a legal landfill ban in driving towards circularity. We will also address the growing challenge of waste from electrical and electronic equipment - especially the recovery of critical magnets - and how this legislation contributes to Europe’s economic security, resilience, competitiveness, and decarbonisation goals. Finally, we will explore how the Circular Economy Act will shape the future of wind energy waste management and what it will take to turn policy into practice.
