Session description
The upcoming Circular Economy Act represents a landmark policy shift for the wind energy sector, arriving in the same year as our industry’s voluntary landfill ban commitment comes into force. This session will unpack what these developments mean for wind energy: from the urgent need for dedicated waste codes to enable pooling and cross-border shipment, to the critical role of a legal landfill ban in driving circularity and preventing resource loss. We’ll also address the growing challenge of waste from electrical and electronic equipment - especially the recovery of critical magnets - and why getting this legislation right is essential for Europe’s economic security, resilience, competitiveness, and decarbonisation goals. We will explore how the Circular Economy Act will shape the future of wind energy waste management and what it takes to turn policy into practice.
