PO508: Digital Twin of an Offshore Substation: Conceptual Model

João Paulo Araújo, Researcher, Creation Research Group/UFRN

Abstract

Offshore wind energy emerges as a sustainable and promising alternative to meet global energy needs. Unlike coastal wind farms, Offshore Wind Power Plants are located in marine environments, where winds are more constant and intense, resulting in greater potential for electricity generation. The operational management of these farms requires technological solutions that make the sector competitive. In this context, the advancement of Industry 5.0 and its digital tools and models has enabled innovations in the operation and maintenance of Offshore Wind Power Plants. The objective of this study is to propose a Digital Twin model of an offshore wind substation adapted to the reality of the Northeastern region of Brazil. The research procedure encompasses four stages: theoretical research; case analysis; development and modeling of the digital twin framework; and model validation. As a result of this work, a functional data acquisition prototype for a Digital Twin and a structured conceptual model were developed, aimed at representing a digital twin of an offshore wind substation, considering the specific characteristics and demands of the Northeastern region of Brazil.
