Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in industry and the academic community.

PO506: Time‑resolved, data‑driven quantification of gearbox bearing life consumption in wind turbines using SCADA and in‑situ oil‑debris sensing.

Benjamin Volgger, Mechanical development engineer, Inmox GmbH

Abstract

This work presents a data‑driven methodology that fuses real‑time SCADA measurements with an in‑situ oil‑debris sensor to quantify gearbox bearing life consumption in wind turbines. Grounded in the ISO bearing‑life framework (notably ISO 281) and contamination classification (ISO 4406), the approach reformulates the modified reference rating life for time‑resolved operation to compute instantaneous life‑consumption rates as functions of load, temperature and contamination, and integrates these rates to produce cumulative consumed life and remaining useful life (RUL) estimates for the gearbox as one system. A pragmatic low‑load correction is included to avoid the unrealistic zero‑wear prediction that standard design‑life formulas produce under very small loads.
