Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in industry and the academic community.
PO487: Implementation of Geographic Information System (GIS) for Offshore Wind Farm projects.
Jyoti Rohodia, Lead GIS Engineer, Boskalis
Abstract
Our work presents implementation of web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) platform to support comprehensive project tracking and promote efficient decision making for offshore wind farms (OWF) projects from early stages of exploration to execution. Our GIS application integrates spatial data visualization of project site data such as OWF layout, buffer zones, cable routes, and exclusion areas along with seabed characterization data like bathymetric map, sediment classification and geohazards for the project sites. This stack of information is further supported by vessel information like AIS data, available environmental sensitivities information like marine protected areas, migratory corridors, noise-sensitive zones, wind resource assessment layers like wind speed, forecast etc., and geo-survey datasets which improves overall planning, operational oversight and regulatory compliance. Additionally, our platform offers interactive user experience to our internal stakeholders for adding inputs and updates from the survey campaigns and installation phases, which promotes healthy monitoring of seabed conditions, environmental risk and infrastructure deployment. This is accompanied by a dynamic dashboard offering key metrics on project installation. By integrating technical, operational, environmental and wind resource data in a centralized GIS platform enables holistic, data-driven decision making throughout the execution phase of OWF project and facilitating streamlined communication among stakeholders and offering regulatory transparency.
