Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in industry and the academic community.

PO406: A novel combination of mast and lidar enabling 200m reference measurements

Seyi Latunde-Dada, Senior Algorithm Scientist, ZX Lidars

Abstract

By mounting a verified ‘reference’ lidar at the top of the 91m mast at the UK Remote Testing Site, the normal mast reference measurement heights were extended to above 91m. This configuration is called the Midar (‘Mast’ + ‘Lidar’).   The mounted ‘reference’ lidar has been verified against the 91m mast. To verify the Midar, a ground-based lidar classified up to 200m was deployed against it for 3 months. Lidar-mast correlation parameters for 10-minute averaged wind speeds met the wind industry best practice criteria at all heights above the mast up to 180m.   These results establish the Midar as a future 180m reference for wind speed measurements.
